Sporting Events Bringing Visitors and Economic Impact to Seminole County
SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. (Spring 2018) – Pack up the kids, invite the neighbors, and head out to enjoy tournament play at one of Seminole County’s premier sports complexes! Between the schedule of youth, amateur, and collegiate events, there is a tournament or event just about every weekend in Seminole County at one of their “top four” tournament facilities listed below.

Sylvan Lake Park (6 soccer fields, 9 tennis courts)

Over the past few years, the sports tourism team at Orlando North, Seminole County has not only hit a homerun for area residents eager to enjoy spectator sports close to home, it has also scored an economic grand slam, filling hotel rooms, local businesses, and restaurants, with athletes, their accompanying families, coaches, and spectators.
Since opening in May of 2016, the Boombah Sports Complex has hosted more than 100 events, bringing in more than 200,000 visitors which has generated more than $34 million dollars in economic impact for Seminole County. For this current fiscal year, sports tourism is expected to host more than 90 events countywide which is projected to generate more than $36 million dollars in economic impact. In a 30 day timeframe from mid-December 2017 to the middle of January 2018, Seminole County hosted four events that brought in a combined total of more than 15,000 visitors, 7,500 hotel room nights, and generated an economic impact of more than $7 million dollars. Two of these events were the ECNL National soccer events, hosted in partnership with the Central Florida Sports Commission and Orlando City Soccer. These two ECNL events combined brought in more than 330 soccer teams from across the country, more than 8,000 visitors, and generated over 4,700 hotel rooms in Seminole County over a seven-day period. One of the other events was a national woman’s field hockey event which brought in more than 90 girls field hockey teams and college coaches from all across the country. This event alone brought in approximately 3,000 visitors to Seminole County over the course of the three day competition and generated more than 2,300 room nights in Seminole County. These events met with such success, they will be returning to Seminole County next year!
