SEMINOLE COUNTY SPORTS EARNS: “2018 EXCELLENCE IN SPORTS – MID TO LARGE MARKET” AWARD

ORLANDO NORTH, SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. (August 30, 2018) — Seminole County Sports is pleased to report another accolade to their scorecard — they have earned one of the state’s highest sports marketing tourism awards, presented at the Florida Recreation and Park Association (FRPA) annual conference, August 29, 2018.

“On behalf of our entire team, we are thrilled and honored to receive the 2018 Excellence in Sports Tourism Award from the Florida Parks and Recreation Association. Sports Tourism is one of the essential components of Seminole County’s overall service delivery model to our community, and helps us generate a significant economic impact for the County,” said Joe Abel Director of Leisure Services for Seminole County.

Since opening in May of 2016, Sanford’s 15-field Boombah Sports Complex has hosted over 100 events, bringing in over 200,000 visitors, which has generated over $34 million dollars in economic impact for Seminole County.  Another standout facility is the recently renovated and expanded Boombah Soldiers Creek Park in Longwood, featuring six premier girls fast-pitch softball fields.
