Oviedo on the Park

Looking for a place in Oviedo to take the family and the dog for a stroll? Check out Oviedo on the Park. This new development, centered around Center Lake Park has it all. Restaurants, coffee shops, a food hall and more. There is even a small dog park to let your pup stretch their legs. Rock and Brews

One of our favorite dog-friendly restaurants in the area is Rock and Brews. They have a large covered patio with both fans and heaters; perfect for all seasons. Ruby loves their special dog menu and I love their draft list and weekend brunch. Be sure to check for their daily specials as well.

Little Big Econ State Forest

One of our favorite activities to do together is hiking. The Little Big Econ State Forest is a great spot to get a glimpse of wild Florida along the Econlockhatchee River. We entered at the Barr street trailhead in Ovideo just minutes from the city. Day use passes are only $1.85 per person and leashed dogs are welcome on the trails.. We took the Florida National Scenic trail to the bridge over the river and then took the white trail back for a total trip of about six miles. Def worth the walk!

Paddle Boarding at Katie’s Landing

Do you and your dog enjoy stand up paddle boarding? Check out Katie’s Landing! This secret gem is part of the Lower Wekiva River Preserve State Park and is a great spot to launch your own canoe, kayak or paddle board. Paddle upstream and then enjoy a nice float back to the park or grab a map and see all the possible routes. Be sure to bring life jackets for humans and dogs as well as water to drink.
