With so many attractions to enjoy in Orlando North, refueling the belly for energy is essential! As a plant-based family, we make it a point to explore local eateries that serve up the best veg-friendly foods. Check out these 5 veg-friendly destinations in Seminole County that will undoubtedly satisfy your palette.
Henry’s Depot
Paying homage to the historic downtown Sanford, Henry’s Depot is among the newer eateries to join Orlando North. The train station turned food hall houses 8 eateries with plenty of veg-friendly options. We kicked off our food adventure here with Dixie Dharma, which offers a vegan southern comfort menu specializing in savory BBQ and fine vittles.
When here, the popular Orange Bird is a must! This open-faced sloppy joe style sandwich is a plant-based delight housed on a toasted potato bun. The ”bird” is smothered in a Florida citrus BBQ sauce, creamy slaw, roasted garlic sauce and served with a southern inspired side of your choice. If you’re looking for breakfast or brunch items, you can also find dishes like tofu scrambles with breakfast sausage and specialty French toast topped with ice cream. Don’t forget to grab one of their fresh baked goods on your way out too!
Directly next door, Oak Flame Pizza has also got you covered. Their build your own vegan pie toppings are far from basic with delicious options like lemon ricotta, white gravy sauce, roasted garlic and Beyond Sausage. Our DIY pie was nothing short of amazing and the only thing left to do was finish it all off with something sweet.
Our last stop at Henry’s Depot was Greenery Creamery – an ice cream parlor with plenty of unique dairy-free options to choose from. Our son opted for the Speculoos flavor on a charcoal cone which was actually made fresh right in front of us! In addition to their scoops, Greenery also offers soft serve ice cream and a variety of milkshake blends.
Normas Plant-based Cuisine
If Latin flavor is your thing, consider adding Norma’s to your must try list. Nestled inside of a quaint bookstore, this deli style café satisfies cravings from breakfast through dinner.
Norma’s fusion menu pays respect to traditional Venezuelan, Colombian, Peruvian and Mexican dishes to name a few. Per the suggestion of Chef Norma herself, we ordered the loaded Breakfast Burrito, Impossible Pabellón Criollo and Arepas Rellena. The perfectly balanced flavors of each dish converted us into instant fans. They even make mini vegan cheese stuffed arepas which our son loved!
Raw Press Juice Co
While we love a hearty meal, sometimes light and raw calls our name. If you find yourself in the same mood, Raw Press Juice Co is your answer. Located in the heart of Sanford, Raw Juice offers a health focused menu of items like smoothie bowls, juices and fresh salads.
The PB Yay Pitaya bowl topped with strawberries, granola and cacao nibs was everything we’d hoped it would be! Our son couldn’t resist going for the Blue Monster smoothie while my husband revitalized his energy with fresh juices like the Sunburst and Vegan Vampire. With the marina only a few blocks away, Raw Press makes for a great place to grab fuel before enjoying a weekend stroll with the family.
Oviedo Brewing Company
If you enjoy pairing your food with a nice cold brew, Oviedo Brewing is the spot for you. This local treasure grants guests the unique opportunity to enjoy flavorful dishes right within view of their brewing process. The brewery serves up crafted beers in house with mouthwatering dishes to match.
Some of the veg-friendly items you can enjoy here are strawberry balsamic salads, veggie pizza, BBQ grilled veggie skewers and a “honey” jalapeño hummus platter sweetened with monk fruit. To finish it all off, we enjoyed a large bowl of perfectly fried beignets tossed in powder sugar.
Green Leaf Kitchen
Sometimes you can just taste the passion through food and Green Leaf Kitchen is a great example of this. This health fusion menu focuses on classic favorites with a flavorful twist. Wraps, quesadillas and chili created from a passed down family recipe are a few things you can expect to find here.
Green Leaf is extremely accommodating and all menu items can be veganized with plant-based alternatives. The Sweet & Spicy Thai Chicken wrap is a fantastic option made up of vegan chicken (upon request), spring mix, carrots, cabbage, cucumbers, sriracha peanuts and a Thai peanut sauce. Customized rice bowls are a great option for kids and their rotating vegan baked goods are also available daily.
