Come one, come all to Historic Downtown Sanford for Folk Art Under the Big Top! Guests are invited to step inside Jeanine Taylor Folk Art’s fall show and be transported to a realm of intrigue and boundless possibilities. Folk Art Under the Big Top opens Saturday, September 27th from 6-8pm and will showcase a curated selection of art from contemporary folk artists alongside authentic antique circus banners. Join us for a celebration of art and the convention defying spirit of the circus!
Featured artists include Butch Anthony, Michael Banks, Rick Kilby, Trent Manning, Melissa Menzer, LaVon Williams and more. From bas relief wood carvings to masterfully crafted ceramics, from found objects and larger than life sculpture – each artist employs varied techniques, yet the essence of the circus is a common current throughout each piece.
Jeanine Taylor Folk Art is honored to display a selection of antique circus banners by Fred Johnson, Johnny Meah, and Jack Sigler courtesy of collector Howard Marks. Bursting with vibrant color and captivating imagery, these relics of the past reveal a story of journeys untold.
