How Can I Learn More About Local Agriculture?

Despite its urban character, over 400 farms thrive in Seminole County, contributing to Florida’s impressive agricultural footprint (over 47,500 farms statewide!). These farms aren’t just feeding us – they’re environmental heroes, improving air and water quality, providing wildlife habitat, and offering recreational opportunities.

About the Author

Dr. Morgan Pinkerton is the Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems Extension Agent with UF/IFAS Extension in Seminole County. She is a graduate of the UF Doctor of Plant Medicine Program and has a master’s degree in entomology. In her current position, she regularly works with farmers and horticulture professionals in Central Florida and beyond. In many of her extension programs, she focuses on diagnostics of plant problems, integrated pest management (IPM), and invasive species issues. She also educates the public on agriculture so that they can better understand how their food reaches their plate and gain an appreciation for the hard work of our farmers. https://www.linkedin.com/in/morganapinky/
