Chad Crawford of How to Do Florida is an expert on Florida fun. Since Seminole County is Chad’s own backyard, it’s safe to say he knows a thing or two about having a good time here. And one of Chad’s favorite ways to get up close and personal with the beautiful natural scenery of Florida is visiting Wekiwa Springs State Park, just north of Orlando.

While it’s always an amazing time paddling the pristine Wekiva River, Chad gives us his 4 Insider Tips on having a WILD time in Wekiwa Springs State Park.

Biking Wekiwa State Park Trails
Take your pick from off-roading or cruising along the 17 miles of multi-purpose trails for a thrilling way to explore the park.

Horseback Riding
Horse enthusiasts can saddle up for a beautiful ride on the Tram Bed Horse Trail. Eight miles long, this trail was built 100 years ago as a passenger line, but rails were never laid. Today horseback riders, bikers, hikers and more enjoy this path through the park.

Birdwatching Picnics
Over 50 species of birds call Wekiwa Springs State Park their homes. The park is a great place to spend a leisurely afternoon snacking on a picnic lunch while searching for your favorite feathered friend.

Wekiva Island
With a café, volleyball courts, kayak rentals and a front-seat view of the river, Wekiva Island has the fun, laid-back atmosphere you’d expect from one of Chad’s favorite places.
