Florida’s rainy afternoons don’t mean you have to stay huddled in your room. You can still have outdoor-style fun indoors in Orlando North/Seminole County, at some of the most unique adventure facilities you’ll find anywhere. Here are a few places to check out that will test your strength, endurance, wits and overall capacity to have fun. We wouldn’t be surprised if you check out these spots even when the sun is shining.

Planet Obstacle, Lake Mary

This 50,000-square foot facility — nearly the size of a football field — is billed as The World’s Largest Indoor Obstacle Park. Created by two Cirque du Soleil veterans, Planet Obstacle offers a variety of unique, and safe, challenges. There are separate rock climbing walls for adults and children; a Ninja Warrior Course that will put even the most fit folks to the test, along with a kids ninja course for those 11 and under; and trampoline fields where you can dunk basketballs and jump into a foam pit. Sound like fun? Wait…there’s more: dodgeball, bumper cars, and rope-climbing courses, including one with a zipline at the end. When you need a break, Planet Obstacle has a big concession area and massage chairs to rejuvenate. No less an authority than Playground Magazine says, “You’re having fun but you’re getting a workout in, too, so you gotta love that.”

Boing Fun Center, Oviedo

Love the thrill of the bounce? This vast sea of trampolines will give you all you want and more. You can catch some serious air on the Open Jump, 12,000-square feet of wall-to-wall trampolines; play games of bouncy dodgeball and volleyball; tap your inner LeBron and fulfill all your slam dunk fantasies. Try the Tumble Run, where you run, flip, cartwheel, spring and jump your way down 60 feet of uninterrupted trampoline, then make a soft landing in a “crash pad.” There’s also a rock-climbing wall, concession area and a place for extra-soft bouncing called the Pillow Jumper.

Altitude Trampoline Park, Sanford

We love bouncing so much here in Orlando North/Seminole County that we have two trampoline centers. Our newest springy attraction, Altitude, which opened in late 2018, features 30,000 square feet of trampolines, activities and amenities. Try Wipeout, where padded arms spin and try to knock you down as you jump over them. Want to get some serious air? Try the bigger Super Trampolines. On the Trapeze Swing, you swing and fly through the air, and land safely in a foam pit. At Altitude, you can also play bouncy dodgeball and basketball, and take on other challenges. This joint is always jumping.

Aiguille Rock Climbing Center, Longwood

The only dedicated climbing facility in the Orlando area, Aiguille will really test your skills, whatever your ability level. This vast indoor facility has 10,000 square feet of climbing walls that reach up to 36 feet high; 27 top rope walls; and several bouldering areas. The place meets all the needs of serious rock climbers — there’s even a pro shop — but also offers challenges and fun for beginners.

District Eat and Play, Oviedo

Located on the northeast side of Oviedo Mall, near the movie theaters, District Eat and Play features a restaurant and full bar, and lots and lots of games and challenges. For team exercises that provide plenty of fun (and perhaps some frustration and a few scares), there are four escape rooms, each with a different story and test. You can also go Boutique Bowling, which features smaller balls and shorter lanes. The big, bright, pinging Arcade room includes 50 of the latest games, including DC Super Heroes, Injustice and Let’s Bounce. District Eat and Play holds a regular series of events, including trivia contests and pinball tournaments.

Whichever location you choose, be assured: safety is Priority #1 for all these attractions. So, get inside and have some out-of-this-world fun!
