If you had two days to spend in a town, what would you want to do first? Orlando North has so many things to offer and do, from family-friendly activities, to fun entertaining nightlife! My two day itinerary is a great mix of activities for any family looking to spend the weekend together!
Day One
First, we spent the day at the Scottish Highland Games. This festival has been happening in the area for more than 40 years, and I can see why–we had an absolute BLAST! We loved watching the bands; my favorite was Albannach!
This celebration also had Scottish-themed beer and food, art, kilts, and so much more. We sipped on beers by Dunedin Brewing and watched the caber toss, sheaf toss, and hammer toss!
Our next stop was Orange County Brewers for a beer flight and some Tin & Taco for dinner! I always get the Tacosaurus in a bag: all the classic taco ingredients over Nacho Cheese Doritos.
I sampled a handful of beers but the one I enjoyed most (as always) was their hazy IPA, Hazed And Confused Citra IPA. Orange County Brewers also has a beautiful beer garden and is conveniently located minutes away from Top Golf in Lake Mary–our final stop of the evening!
We love Topgolf. We played with our friends for over two hours while we enjoyed some of their sliders and fried cheese curds, and washed it all down with a couple of drinks.
Day Two
Orlando North cannot be done in one day. You have to spend more time here to get the full experience!
My second day was spent with the family around Sanford, which has an insane amount of activities and entertainment for everyone to enjoy.
We started the day by renting a golf cart and hopping around Historic Downtown Sanford! We went to The Station for lunch, and if you haven’t been yet, you HAVE to go. The food is out of this world! We enjoyed everything down to the last crumb.
We started with the Southern Twinkies, which are jalapeños stuffed with sausage, cream cheese, smoked, and wrapped in bacon accompanied by a root beer barbecue dipping sauce.
The Station BLT is a classic, delicious sandwich with fried green tomatoes, thick-cut bacon, parmesan truffle aioli, all stuffed between a toasted, freshly baked hoagie roll. If that isn’t watering your mouth yet, they have much more to offer, like roasted pork tostones, zesty chicken wings, po’boys, and craft beer to wash it all down!
After that, we drove around for a little bit just to feel the breeze and catch the beautiful views of the historic downtown. We also stopped at Magpies Modern General Store, where I might’ve spent too much money.
I love Magpie’s so much because it has local treasures and unique gifts that you won’t find anywhere else. The store is filled with stationary, barware, clothing, and gifts guaranteed to make someone laugh or put a smile on their face.
We took the golf cart back over to Dees Brothers Brewery for a break and a flight of beer while the kids played arcade games and Jenga! The beer garden is now open, so it’s perfect for fresh air and room to stretch your legs. You have to try the Cotswolds Amber Ale when you go–it’s a solid choice and my go-to each time I stop in.
After hours roaming around Sanford, it was time to head out to Elev8 Fun Sanford’s newest arcade complete with games, ropes courses, bowling, go-karts, and games with all the bells, whistles, and flashing lights.
They have food and a bar inside, so it’s perfect for keeping the whole family entertained for hours! We played games the whole time we were there! I can’t wait to go back and race against my husband–no doubt I will win.
About the Creator
Hey there! My name is Ashley. I am often referred to as a “beer connoisseur” which I greatly consider as a compliment. If you look up the word “connoisseur” in the dictionary, though, it is defined as an expert, and that I am not. I do not consider myself to be an expert on beer. However, I guess you could certainly consider me an expert in being your digital beer tour guide of Orlando! Follow me on my trips to breweries as I share my thoughts and recommendations! You might also discover fun places in Florida and new local beers to try, whether you’re visiting for the week or living in the nearby counties of Orlando.
